General Information
By purchasing an Elizabeth Dye garment, you are helping to support an independently owned, "Made in USA" design business based in Portland, Oregon. Our dresses are made in our Portland workshop or nearby by fairly paid seamstresses. We know the names of everyone who works on Elizabeth Dye dresses.
Each Elizabeth Dye dress is made to order, unless it is listed as "in stock." To place an order, select your size and add the dress to your cart. Please consult the size chart to determine your size. Order timeframe is 14 weeks unless otherwise mentioned. Feel free to inquire about a rush order if you are on a short timeline. Rush fees are as follows:
12 weeks: additional $200
10 weeks: additional $300
9 weeks: additional $400
8 weeks: additional $500
7 weeks or less: contact us
Sustainability Mission
Our made-to-order business model means our dresses are made one at a time, as they are ordered by you, the client. We do not maintain surplus inventory, which eliminates overproduction and minimizes waste. Whenever possible, we repurpose our excess fabric or donate it to resource organizations that find ways to keep materials out of the waste stream. We favor natural fibers like silk, linen and cotton and are always happy to find a natural fiber alternative to a synthetic. Our fabrics are sourced from reputable textile mills and family owned lace companies.
Try at Home
For clients not near a retailer, we offer a try-at-home program for many of our gown styles. Email us for details on how it works!
Sizing
Elizabeth Dye dresses are made to standard sizes 0 - 24. The sizes on the chart reflect the body measurements recommended for each size, not the measurements of the dress itself — every dress has a bit of ease (extra room) built in to allow for body variation and ease of tailoring.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR SIZE
Whenever possible, have your measurements taken professionally.
Choose the larger size if you fall between sizes, and base your size on your largest body measurement.
Since dresses are made to standard sizes and not your individual body measurements, some alterations are to be expected.
If your measurements fall outside the size chart below, send us an email with your inquiry -- we'd be happy to discuss the available options for a customized fit.
Standard length for Elizabeth Dye gowns is 45 inches from natural waist to hem. Extra skirt length is available for all styles in 3 inch increments. Train length can also be customized for almost all styles.
Alterations
We do not offer alterations, but have a wide network of alteration seamstresses and are happy to help you connect with someone to tailor your dress for a perfect fit.
Shipping
DOMESTIC: Orders within the U.S. are shipped using standard ground shipping. Your tracking number will be emailed to you once your dress has been prepared for shipment. Please note on your order if you would like express shipping, insurance or signature confirmation. An additional cost may apply. IMPORTANT: if your order is time-sensitive, please advise your wear date at the time of purchase to make express shipping arrangements for guaranteed on-time delivery.
INTERNATIONAL: Items shipped internationally are subject to customs, and can be delayed in customs in your destination country. Please factor this in to your timeframe at the time of purchase. Taxes and import duties may be incurred when placing an international order and may represent an additional cost to you. If you're concerned about additional costs that may be incurred in customs, contact your country's customs office or consult their website for detailed information, since policies vary depending on where you live.
Payment
Payment is due in full at the time of order. Standard shipping is automatically applied to your order. Please indicate if you would like expedited shipping.
Refunds & Exchanges
Since Elizabeth Dye dresses are made one at a time and made to order, it is not possible to accept returns or exchanges. Every effort has been made to picture and describe items accurately. Please inquire with any questions and concerns prior to purchase. Sample sale purchases are “as is” and are final sale.
Swatch Requests
If you have ordered a dress and would like swatches of your fabrics, email us your request. We are happy to send these to you as a courtesy.
